About

Charlotte’s work challenges what we think of as the normal context for artistic expression. For her it is not something that takes place in the gallery or museum but something that can exist between the interaction of people and friends in a social context. This interaction drives the work and determines its form.

The large blanket, which has been the focus of a number of happenings and performances is made up from fragments of clothing donated by friends and relations. It is both symbolic as well as functional. The blanket is a device that triggers interaction between people and is used to embrace and infold a sense of community.

Charlotte’s work is honest and direct. And it focuses our attention on what it is to be part of a social group.
